The Kern County Sheriff’s Activities League (SAL) is a non-profit after-school activity program for boys and girls ages 8 to 18 years. The programs are coordinated and chaperoned by deputy sheriffs and volunteers. SAL volunteers and participants support community service efforts including graffiti and litter removal in our local neighborhoods. SAL deputies and volunteers promote education through learning activities such as tutoring, computer labs, art classes, and field trips to colleges. SAL also promotes physical fitness through sports and recreational activities. SAL allows young people the opportunity to get to know law enforcement officers as mentors in a positive environment. We focus on helping them broaden their horizons and build essential life skills so they can become successful community members.
